The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) expanded its core of Appointed Representatives this week, with the addition of Mark Robinson Maritime Consultants (MRMC).

Master Mariner, Mark Robinson, who has been a surveyor of RMI yachts for the past 7 years under previous employ, established MRMC this year. MRMC brings a wealth of experience with detailed specialist knowledge of RMI regulations and requirements. With surveyors across Europe and the USA, as an Appointed Representative MRMC may perform specified functions for RMI yachts across the globe.

Mark Robinson said: “We are delighted to be appointed the RMI’s Appointed Representative and are really looking forward to continuing our excellent working relationship. As the longest serving RMI Surveyor I can now continue to deliver Clients a gold standard service, where they can be assured of flexibility, rapid response, and a dedicated point of contact.”

Mark added: “We are approved to conduct surveys as required by the RMI. These include surveys for intended use (private yachts coming onto the RMI Register), private yacht (limited charter) for up to 84 days per year, passenger (PAXY) and commercial surveys.

“External ISM, ISPS and MLC, 2006 audits are also performed by our surveyors. All statutory certification and national certification can be issued to the yacht within hours dependent upon survey findings.”

The Flag of Choice

The RMI Registry is the third largest in the world with just over 122 million gross tons and more than 3,540 vessels in the fleet overall. With yachts making up 15% of the fleet in terms of the number of vessels, there are now more than 500 yachts flying the RMI flag.

Marc Verburg, RMI Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs in The Netherlands, said “The decision to add MRMC as an Appointed Representative was based on requests from the expanding reach of the RMI Registry and its growing industry stakeholder base. We look forward to working with MRMC and continuing our relationship with Mark Robinson.”
